Open Door Christian Schools
Open Door Christian Schools (ODCS), founded in 1976, is a premier co-educational, college preparatory school serving Christian families in Northern Ohio. With an enrollment of near 500 students in preschool, elementary, middle and high school, ODCS is the largest Christian school between Cleveland and Toledo, drawing students from 120 different churches of various denominations.
ODCS is the only preschool-grade 12 school system within 60 miles of Elyria to receive accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International. We are also accredited through the North Central Association which is under the authority of AdvancED, the region’s premier accrediting agency. ODCS is one of only 12 schools in the state to be dually accredited by ACSI and AdvancED. ODCS is committed to the historic Christian perspective of life as set forth in the Bible, recognizing God as the creator of all things, the Holy Spirit as the convictor of the believer, and the Son of God as Savior of all who believe in Him.
ODCS is committed to the Judeo-Christian ethic and holds that the knowledge of God is the beginning of wisdom; that the Bible is the infallible inerrant word of God; that fellowship with God is the basis for true fellowship with one another and that each student is uniquely created by God and is endowed with particular talents. Its mission, in partnership with the family and local church, is the salvation, the discipleship, and the education for life and service of the students entrusted to its care.
This mission is carried out in a Christian environment that is focused on educating the whole student-spiritually, academically, artistically, athletically and in service.
Our purpose is to serve families of preschoolers by partnering with them to prepare their children for future school experiences. We believe children learn best through play. Developmentally appropriate experiences provide the framework for understanding each other and the world around them. Our curriculum is biblically based and uses purposeful play as well as large and small group times. Open-ended activities in learning centers allow children to explore at their developmental level.
